Saving the Fulbourn Swifts

During my period working for Applied Ecology Ltd (Cambridge) I was involved in a large-scale project at Fulbourn in Cambridgeshire that won the IEEM Tony Bradshaw Best Practice Award for 2011. Part of a 1960s housing estate containing the second largest Common Swift colony in Britain was proposed to be demolished as part of a new housing project. Through careful survey and appropriate mitigation the colony appear to be adapting to their new homes. Long may it continue!
